Though I tend to use my tumblr account mostly for drawings,pictures or other random visuals, a poem does happen to pop up on my dashboard once in a while. I thought I'd share the two I came across the last month cause I like them for their intensity.

ReplyDeleteThese poems are very wonderful, I enjoy them very much. It seems to me that poetry can be used as a tool to attract people's attention with catchy and interesting phrase to send some kind of message. In these two poems they address the issues involved in society, touching upon topics people often times choose to ignore. There are also some people who can relate to these poems and listening to it bring up some sort of event that happened in the past. Digging up all sorts of emotions.
I've actually seen the second poem before, floating around tumblr at one point. The first time I've listened to it, watched it, absorb all it's content-- I cried. Like, legit tears were rolling down my face. I like the technology used in it, the visual animation to create an imagery of the poem and the music to emphasize the mood-- powerful stuff man.
People have used medias such as poetry and slam poetry to invoke strong emotional feeling and attention since FOREVERR!! This is a food example of that, you relate, either to the emotion or the words the feelings or the subject. That's what makes the spoken word poems stronger than the written. In my opinion anyways, I feel that when a poet speaks with conviction and emotes as the writing was intended, you get a grander schemes of things and a deeper interpersonal connection! Again my opinion, but I'm pretty sure it apply a little bit to others as well!
